The Catharinia Colony was a British crown colony that existed from 1784 until 1954. At first it consisted of numerous coast settlements on Catharinia Island, and it later expanded occupying the entire Catharinia Archipelago. In 1940 the northern part declared itself independence and formed the People's Republic of Catharinia. In 1954 the colony was granted independence and became the Republic of Catharinia.
