Jade is not evil. Annihilation changed her original character, as she is a servant of Shao Kahn. In the original source material, Jade is Kitana's childhood friend and bodyguard, and thus, is one of the good guys. While Jade does serve Shao Kahn in UMK3, she comes to a decision to choose her friend over the Emperor.
