The S1520 features a mahogany body mated to a maple and bubinga Wizard Prestige neck with a 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with a special S inlay at the 12th fret. Components include Ibanez Quantum pickups, a locking nut and a double locking tremolo bridge. A similar model with a decorative bubinga top is known as the S1520FB, although it is referred to simply as the S1520 in some catalogs. The S1520 was discontinued after two years in production, but the S1520FB lived on for two additional years.
