Lieutenant Commander Bruce Hunter has been grounded from space travel because of "space radiation sickness". He tells his paramour, prominent biologist Joyce Lawrence, that she should travel while he cannot. Bruce is the commanding officer of a salvage yard for spaceships. A wreck comes in from Aldebaran. The pilot's body is petrified, and the wreck has a recording disc on a player. Joyce sends a message to the Earth. Bruce takes a crew to rescue her, using sound to drive the creatures away. As they leave, Bruce is happy that Joyce retrieved full recordings of their music.
