The Ottawa Citizen newspaper presented league championship awards for various levels of hockey to the hockey community in the rural areas outside of Ottawa. The Citizen Shield was presented to the champion of the Ottawa District (not to be confused with the champion of Ottawa and District which saw the rural areas play the city champion).
