Sonic the Hedgehog has been forced to use an oil slide as transportation twice in Sonic the Comic. On the first occasion, Sonic was blasted onto the chute by an Aquis fireball. Sonic struggled to get a grip in the oil and conceded that he would have to "go with the flow". Despite the danger, Sonic continued to make jokes, worrying more about staining his power sneakers. The chute eventually deposited him into the sea, although the oil did not follow him. On his return to the Oil Ocean Zone, Sonic had mastered travelling on the oil slide and used it to build enough momentum to reach The Pump.
