Bjørn Haraldsson was a Solarian citizen and a soldier of the Solarian League Marine Corps. Despite his Scandinavian name, he appeared to be of purely African ethnic descent. He was one of Ayibongwinkosi Kabweza's trainers when she went through Marine boot camp; she remembered him as an example for how in the Diaspora, a person's name and appearance no longer corresponded the way they largely did on Earth prior to the colonization of space.
