Spriggat was an old male hedgehog who enjoyed eating insects, bumblebees in particular, and catching them with a net on a string; he was also an excellent tracker. He saved Samkim and Arula from dying of wasp stings. He helped Samkim and Arula on their quest to track down Dingeye and Dethbrush, and recover the Sword of Martin. On their journey, the trio met Alfoh and his colony of Guosim shrews. Spriggat was attacked by the Deepcoiler on the Great Inland Lake and he died from the resulting wounds.
