When the Shadow Lord invaded Deltora, the Jalis tribe fought to defend their territory. Gers was among the few who survived the invasion and was brought back to the Shadowlands. He became the second person to escape the Shadow Arena, and was found by Claw wandering the wastes of the Shadowlands. Gers agreed to join the Resistance, and became one of its most valuable members.
