The Department of Colonial Development was a governmental agency of the United Federation of Planets. Its primary function was the oversight of planning, construction and maintenance of Federation colonies. After Jason Bartholomew resigned his Starfleet commission in 2383, he was offered a position at the Department of Colonial Development, though he was killed before could accept.
