Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is a 352-page novelization of the film of the same name that was written by Greg Cox and released on by Pocket Star. The novelization mainly follows the film while providing additional details. The prologue of the novelization describes how William Corvinus became the first Werewolf: William and his brother Marcus were riding in the forest at night when a wolf attacked Marcus. William was able to strike the wolf before it bit Marcus, but the wolf then bit William. William nearly died that night, only to take the form of a Werewolf during his recovery. How Marcus later became a Vampire is not described.
