Tanujitsu was a martial art that uses a large ball-and-chain weapon. It was modeled after the vicious fighting style of the tanuki. The man who developed it approached Hida Nichie shortly after Nichie won the second Kumitae tournament to become her student, and have her help to further develop the art.
