Crenq was a Tenebian engineer. It had a device around its neck that could translate its speech into the Denobulan language. In 2156, Crenq was treated by Dr. Phlox aboard Enterprise for burns it received when its ship was attacked by the Romulans. It was skeptical about providing information on the Romulan's movements, due to it knowing about captain Jonathan Archers reputation and his involvement with the ECS Kobayashi Maru. But after the ship left, a message was sent to the Enterprise possibly containing the information. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: To Brave the Storm)
