Mer Ol'Mev was a Tellarite male who hosted the Federation News Service program Countdown: Cardassia, devoted to updating the Federation Alliance's push into Dominion-held territory. Ol'Mev occasionally concluded his program with a "special comment" on issues of interstellar politics, such as the fallout on Bajor from the disappearance of the Bajoran wormhole and the anti-Federation propaganda of Bek Gillen.
