Mangotsfield United and Bristol Rovers have never met in a competitive fixture, although a predecessor of the team, Mangotsfield FC, were the opposition for Rovers' first ever league match. They met in a Bristol & District League game on 1 October 1892 in a match that was officially a home game for the then Eastville Rovers, but was played in Mangotsfield. Rovers lost the match 3-1. Mangotsfield United frequently provide pre-season opposition for Rovers, and will host a Bristol Rovers XI before the 2008-09 season.
