The MATTA (Mix-And-Transmit, Transmogrifying Area) machine was an invention developed by Doctor Frankensaur to provide food for plant-eating dinosaurs throughout the Vegetarian Sector. It was able to combine plants to make much larger ones at about six times their original size. Frankensaur hoped to improve his MATTA machine so that he could transmit his creations to planets where they were needed. While he began work on Hadros Major, Frankensaur was forced to flee when he was attacked by agents of the daspletosaurus Professor Hydra, continuing his work in a castle belonging to his family. However, Hydra tracked him there and, using his own MAMMA machine, attached his head to Frankensaur's tail, gaining access to the other dinosaur's thoughts and hijacking his mind.
