Ignalu was a Ta-Koro lava surfing competition. Participants used Lavaboards (a flat, narrow piece of hardened Protodermis, made from tree trunks from the Charred Forest) to travel rapidly across the flows. Winners of this competition recieved a Copper Mask of Victory. The Tren Krom Break was the site of numerous Ignalu competitions. Now that the Matoran of Mata Nui have moved to Metru Nui, it is unknown what has become of Ignalu as there are no natural lava flows in there.
