Football, also referred to as Soccer (depending on region) is a subtheme of Sports. It began in 2000, and was discontinued after 2006. Many of the sets had Shell, Coke, Adidas and other promotional sponsors, and some sets from 2000 even included minifigures based on real soccer players. It was the longest living LEGO sports theme.
