Lorelei first appears in the first episode when trying to kidnap a Riolu, a Pokémon quite rare in Kanto. Clarissa Spark, a brand new Pokémon trainer with her Charmander, protected the Emanation Pokémon from Lorelei. Lorelei, who was wearing a hood at the time, used a Lapras to defeat Clarissa but it ended in a draw when Lapras refused to attack.
