Scale Mail is a piece of armor that was constructed similarly to ring mail. Overlapping scales of hard leather or metal were attached to a leather or cloth backing. While this was an improvement in protection over ring mail, the end result was a much heavier armor than ring mail. Image:Scalemail.gif
