The Spot was the debut-plate (a single) by guitarist Snakefinger on Ralph Records in 1978. Snakefinger was a friend of the Residents and also worked with the group together. The Residents encouraged to take for their label on Snakefinger. The group co-produced the single and played with the guitarist with it. The b-side, "Smelly Tongues", was a cover of a song by the Residents of their first lp, 'Meet the Residents'. Ralph was so convinced of the hitkracht of the song, that of the single 35,000 copies were pressed on translucent blue vinyl.
