After the witch was freed from her confinement, she summoned a replica of the Woodsman and handed him the ax. She gave him the order to kill Paige Matthews and bring back her heart. However, Piper Halliwell blew him up before he had the chance. The weapon then remained inside the Halliwell Manor until Piper defeated the witch. The ax, along with all other fairy tale artifacts, was returned to its rightful place.
