Trimming generally refers to the act of strategically cutting the growth of a cannabis plant in order to encourage branching but can also refer to growth management. On may prune the top of a plant to encourage more lateral branching, or the lower branches which receive little light in order to direct more energy into the top colas. The two most common trimming techniques for increasing branching are topping and FIMing.
