Riding Armor were specifically designed for samurai on horseback. The plates were re-positioned to better deflect blows from a lower angle. The ancestor of the O-Yoroi, chest armor was made from lighter metal plates, such as copper or bronze, while iron was for the legs and sode. Essentially reinforced Light Armor, the plates on the armor would be thickened for increased protection. This in turn would reduce mobility on foot however, compared to samurai in Light Armor.
