Bumper plates are weightlifting plates, usually made of rubber, to allow safe dropping of heavy loads. They are used primarily in Olympic Weightlifting, and come in all varieties of weights in both kilograms and pounds. Some varieties come in different colors to easily delineate their size; others come in all black.
