Van Zandt (first name unknown) is a researcher in the biosciences field who Jobe Wilkins had a prolonged and heated argument with by phone during the Bad Seeds' New York layover before Christmas, 2006. Jobe calls him (or possibly her) a "hack", but the fact that Jobe did spend considerable time discussing research with him suggests that he (or she) is probably one of the world top names in the field. Other than that, nothing has been revealed about him/her -- no first name, gender, nationality, age or whether he/she is a baseline or a mutant.
