Following high school, Whitley attended Pacific Lutheran University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2003 with a double degree, obtaining two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Music Education and minoring in Mathematics. Whitley then went on to the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where he obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science, Graphics and Visualization and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in 2007.
