Kimbrell Steading was a Grayson steading, or feudal province. It was one of the first twenty-four steadings founded. In 1043 PD (3146 AD in the Gregorian Calendar used on Grayson) the then-Steadholder of Kimbrell was reputed to have thirty-six illegitimate sons, but as he did not have any legitimate son to succeed him, the Conclave of Steadholders resolved to recognize the eldest of his sons born out of wedlock as heir to the Steadholdership.
