Infected Files first appeared in TRON 2.0 Killer App for Game Boy Advance. They are non-humanoid viruses that move around sluggishly in almost every level. However, these programs can turn back to their original form when they are pushed onto disinfection pads. They usually compliment the hero and sometimes even give them upgrade chips or access keys after disinfection.
