A ticker tape parade was a parade in a downtown urban area on Earth which involved people in buildings throwing down shredded paper or confetti out a window to make the event much more festive. In 2372, Q offered to return the USS Voyager back to Earth in exchange for Captain Kathryn Janeway to rule against Quinn's request for asylum on the ship. Q told Janeway to think about siding with him and told her that being the Captain who returned Voyager home, there would be a ticker tape parade down Sri Lanka Boulevard in celebration of her. Janeway ultimately turned down Q's offer and gave Quinn asylum aboard Voyager. In reaction, Q stated "So much for ticker tape parades." (VOY: "Death Wish")
