Jed takes over Dennis' job at the Orinoco Club when Dennis becomes Assistant Manager and a talent scout. Ken gets the Surrey job but realises he'll have to give it up to stay with Frank. Val tells him not to be so noble. The drayman Fred Clark tries to con Jack out of two dozen bottles of beer. When he threatens Jack, Bill Gregory throws him out of the Rovers. Jean surprises herself by chatting Jed up. Ken tells Frank he didn't get the job. Not realising the sacrifice that he's made for him, Frank tells Ken he's disappointed in his lack of ability.
