Chocobos in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within do not appear as they do in the games; as avian transports that carry characters from location to location. Instead, in the present world of the movie, they appear as ornamental icons, displayed on clothing and various personal items at the whim of the possessor. It is unknown whether or not they exist as an actual avian species. During the movie, chocobo icons appear twice; once on Aki's pajama top, over her left breast, and again on a civilian's briefcase during the Fall of the New York Barrier City.
