The Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Center (AFMIC) (now the National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI)) was a DoD intelligence production organization, with authority to conduct day-to-day operations, subject to overall policy and regulatory control of the Director, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). The AFMIC was jointly staffed by personnel assigned or detailed from each of the Military Departments, as agreed between the Director, DIA, and the Secretaries of the Military Departments.
