The Republic of San Ignacio is a city state located in western area of the former country of Belize. The Republic of San Ignacio takes its name from the capital city of San Ignacio. Which itself serves as the cultural-economic hub of region. The city got its start from Mahogany and chicle production during British colonialism. Overtime, it attracted different people from the surrounding areas, as well as expatriates from Taiwan, The United States and The United Kindom, which has led to the diverse population of the city and the conrtyy at present day.
