Goon Island is a location in E. C. Segar's Thimble Theatre comics, one of the many exotic, faraway locales visited by Popeye and company in their travels. The island is home to the brutish Goon race, chief among them their leader Alice. Popeye's arrival at the island led to his fighting alongside the Goons to liberate them from the Sea Hag's enslavement. Since then, the island along with its inhabitants has become a more benign place. Goon Island was the setting of Popeye's reunion with his father, Poopdeck Pappy, in Fleischer Studios's 1938 cartoon Goonland.
