Ema was a large charm made from a wooden plaque with painted animals. Horses were a supplication to the kami and a black horse was a request for rain, while a white horse was for good weather. The Rokugani used ema to pray for all sorts of wishes to be granted. They were purchased during the New Year's Festival and were known to bring great fortune.
