During Gargamel's first attempt at testing the device when he encountered Handy and the two Clockwork Smurfs, Scruple ran away when he saw the Clockwork Smurfs pick up Gargamel and Azrael, gave them a spin, and threw them away, causing the device to run down an incline and catapult Clockwork Smurf onto it. A moment later, lightning struck the Skate And Bake, charging Clockwork Smurf with so much energy that neither Handy nor Clockwork Smurfette could safely touch him.
