'The Golden Light' was the nickname given by Emily Merchant to an anomaly she discovered in 1867. Just after her marriage, she investigated it and went through it, ending up being stranded on the other side. She eventually joined the Time Tribe, a group of time-travelling nomads all displaced from their own time period. After three years of travelling with them, she spent sometime in the 21st century, where she eventually found an anomaly back to her own time. (Episode 4.7)
