The Dark Hall is a dungeon of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was built during the Middle Ages by Salazar Slytherin, who intended for the hall's existence to remain secret. It is located far beneath the Hogwarts Dungeons near to the Chamber of Secrets. There is a large suit of armour in the room. In 1992, Harry Potter visited the Dark Hall with the intention to discover the Chamber of Secrets and kill the ancient Basilisk which infested the school on the command of Salazar Slytherin.
