René Mathis is a fictional intelligence operative, who appeared in the 2006 film Casino Royale, based on Ian Fleming's 1953 novel. Mathis was re-imagined as an MI6 agent and was played by Giancarlo Giannini, who later reprised the role for 2008's Quantum of Solace.
