During work on Survival, he walked off the production because of the involvement of champion motorcyle racer/stunt rider Eddie Kidd, who was not a member of the actors' union Equity. Paul Heasman subsequently took over as stunt arranger. Tipping died tragically when a parachute jump he was performing as part of a reconstruction for the docudrama/real-life rescue series 999 (1992-2002) went wrong; his parachute failed to open and he fell to his death.
