The politics of Niue are fairly simple to under stand. The President of Niue (Toki Talagi), is supported by his secretary, who must follow the orders of the president, and will take power if the president is to be missed for an extended period of time. The chief of the police force will take power if the secretary is missed, and nothing is planned if the chief happens to be missed. The laws are stated in The Constitution of Niue and the president may order anything as long as it is valid in the constitution.
