As you uncork the bottle there is an animation where a skull appears above your head and a cone of black and grey appears around you. After you uncork the bottle you get a pop-up interface saying, "You sheepishly uncork the bottle, releasing souls of ancient beasts momentarily. Death is pleased with your offering. You now have X reaper points." You also get a chat message saying, "You are awarded 20 reaper points for your offering. You now have X reaper points."
