Shurik was a prisoner in Butcher Bay Correctional Facility Double-Max area. He had a permission to work in the mines. One time he however left his classes down there and couldn't go back down there. He asked Riddick to keep his eyes open and bring them back to him. Shurik promised to watch-out for the Riotguards and signal Riddick when it turns away in return.
