The Ruh'kmar-class Carrier does not follow standard carrier design. It contains multiple hangar bay openings within sheltered pockets, protecting starfighters from enemy fire as they exit into the fray. It is large, and, fitting with Xen'Chi philosophies, it is able to hold its own in a direct engagement with at least two frigate sized warships. No ship in the Xen'Chi arsenal is completely helpless if it gets caught on its own.
