Inari Seido was a large temple built to honor Inari, the Fortune of Rice and Good Grain, which had a wooden statue of tenfoot-tall in its interior. Small carvings of foxes were set by the temple's main doors. The temple was built in the open rolling plains which formed the the western part of the Nobu Valley. Local legend claimed the commoners of the area built the temple themselves, and when the work was complete some of the workers shaved their heads to tend it.
