Nedland was founded by aspiring micronationalist Ned Greiner as the Democratic Republic of Nedland on October 7, 2014, and was soon followed by Patrick Maco's the Capitalist Democratic Republic of Patistan, now its fellow autonomous republic. the DR Nedland had only one citizen, and became inactive in December 2014. On April 29, 2015, the Nedland project was revived and became a fully fledged nation. When Patistan was annexed and became a republic, Nedland was also granted autonomy.
