Peggy Arline Middleton (née Loughman) (3 January 1916 - 26 August 1974) Born in Bristol, she trained as a teacher. She married Alexander Middleton in Preston in 1942. She was a Labour Party councillor representing Greenwich on the London County Council from 1955–65 and on the Greater London Council from 1967 until her death. She died suddenly in 1974, and Greenwich Council's new civic offices (since demolished) were named Peggy Middleton House in her honour. Entry in Who's Who
