The Mk III Shield is a piece of Galactic Federation technology intended to appear in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It was likely to appear in or around the base created by GFMC Task Force Herakles. These barriers could likely be destroyed by the Charge Beam or Missiles, making them little obstacle to Samus Aran.
