Johnny first encountered Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower after stealing the green Chaos Emerald from Marine the Raccoon. Once stolen, Johnny boasted about himself, saying he was "the best of Cap'n Whisker's agents. The fastest of the fast. The sultan of speed. The embodiment of awesome!" Following this, Sonic, Tails and Marine chased after him. Later, Sonic, Tails, Marine and Blaze the Cat gathered together and fought against Johnny, Captain Whiskers and Dr. Nega and retrieved the Chaos Emerald. Despite their defeat, Johnny and Whisker proved to be continual thorns in Blaze's side. (StH: #180, SU: #1)
